Unsurprisingly, it’s easy to lose a kitten behind Tennyson. They are getting to know each other. The girls are enthralled by him. He’s learning that kittens can be annoying but kinda fun to chase. The kittens got to wander around the living room for a while today and Tenny got to start to get used to having them in his space.
In other excitement, I got some of my list done today, mostly KWAR stuff. Plans are afoot to run a little KWAR/KWCS t-shirt and swag shop during the event. It’s the perfect project as I get to take all the risk and responsibility and do all the work. Sometimes, I need to not be a team player and just get something done.
(I may have been a terrible lab partner in high school as well. Sure, I’m a team player, but every once in a while? Not so much. I think I like having full control instead of the imagined control I get as a project manager.)
The kittens might almost have names. Stay tuned!

Oh the tummy! Of course there are spots and stripes on the tummies of the little girls! The silver one is more likely to show off her fabulous tummy so here we have fierce tummy photos. Click on the thumbnails for bigger shots.
They continue to grow and to get used to people. They continue to be positively adorable. It’s good to be the kittens. They’re spoiled already.
Not that this is a surprise.
Friday is a good day. We went out to lunch at Panera which is quickly becoming the new favorite place. The Fop is happy about their tuna salad and I am working my way through their soups and salads. Yum. It’s also nice to get out of the house in the middle of the workday sometimes.
There are no exciting plans for the weekend other than organizing stuff, working on the new Monster Cat site, figuring out if I’m going to take a class this term and where, and More Laundry. Stupid laundry.
Yes, there’s a new Monster Cat site in the works. I’m hoping to finalize the layout this weekend and learn more about how to make php bits do what I ask them to do.
In short, this weekend could be really productive!
Or I could spend hours on end giggling at kittens.

It’s not all about kittens here at the ranch. It’s *mostly* kittens, but there also beads.
I played with beads and wire last night, making some pieces for viking treasure necklaces. It was fun! I need to figure out better ways to tuck wire ends in out of the way. I also need to contain the beads better while I’m working with them. I think there are a dozen little beads under my desk.
Things I figured out last night:
- 20 gauge copper wire doesn’t like to be strong-armed. In fact, it’ll break.
- 26 gauge copper wire is much more resilient.
- Adhesive that warns that it may burn skin on contact? Yeah, maybe I shouldn’t use that stuff.
- Dumping acetone on your fingers to remove adhesive? Turns what’s left of clear nail polish (well, clear with silver glitter) opaque.
- Memory wire is cool stuff.
- Beads are fun stuff. Okay, I already knew that.

“Kill! Kill! Kill!” cries the silver, claws deployed.
“Can we eat it when it’s dead?” replies the gold, licking her lips.
These are, we’re finding, likely to be their natural dispositions. The little silver will run around and terrorize the cat toys, sheets, blankets and body check her sister into the food bowl. The little gold girl will chow down enthusiastically, come out to play here and there but come running at the sound of kibble in the bowl. And the gooshy food… oh my.

“Hmm… all these collectible card games… shall we play?” she asks daintily from the top of the tower of geek stuff.
Kittens are cute. Even when they’re eying the paper products longingly. This one, I suspect, will be our little geek. She’s already spending a lot of time with the books and leftover tech in the guestroom. She also looks longingly up at the comic boxes… though that may have more to do with them being so tall she can’t yet climb them.
“Let’s just scatter the cards across the floor and jump on them!” She adds, “If we run and slide it’ll be totally fun.”

There are so few words for how ridiculous this was.

“Am I killing you with cuteness yet?” she asks innocently.
Both kittens have now had preliminary meetings with Tennyson. Mr. Paw is not impressed yet but he’s far more chill about it. The kittens are duly impressed with his gargantuan size. Which seems appropriate.
The girls have also gone on walkabout around the house. They’re very cute. Their eyes get very wide and they want to explore everything. Which of course they can’t do yet. We’re almost to the point where we can reliably call them out from their hiding spots but I still don’t want to end up with one stuck under the couch.
They are pure concentrated cuteness.
“I slay you! I slay you!” she says with wide-eyed glee.

Here’s your midday dose of kitten cuteness. They are becoming more comfortable with us and playing lots. The silver is the more playful while the golden one is more of a climber and eater.
They are adorableness incarnate.
They are also a major point of interest for Tennyson who has not yet been allowed to interact with them much. He sniffed at them while they were in their carrier Sunday. (And hissed! Can you believe it? Neither could he… he looked a little confused.) He’s been intent on the guest room door ever since, first warily and now curiously. We’re giving everyone a little time to adapt and settle. Likely they’ll meet more formally later today or tomorrow depending on how chilled out the four-legged ones are.
