This older photo of Tenny really sums up what I feel like at the end of the week lately.
My week was long and rather bothersome at times as you might have guessed from my lack of posts or commentary on Monster Cat. The trip to New London was productive but kind of intense. One of the teams I work with clued in to some important stuff and wanted to absorb it all at once… always fun. Wednesday, I got to clean snow off my rental car! Okay, it was kind of icy and more like accumulated freezing rain, but I think of it fondly as snow. That same day, I attempted to fly home on a mid-afternoon flight and ended up hanging out in the airport until that night. Why? Because Philadelphia still can’t handle landing planes in the rain. We had our plane at the gate in Providence but Philly kept us on a ground hold until 8 pm. I did eventually get home, and only 5 hours later than expected, so I guess that’s not horrible just bothersome. I think I was in bed less than 45 minutes after I got home. Happy, warm, snuggly blankets improved my day immensely.
Thursday was, of course, V-day. I am so lucky I planned ahead this year on the whole gift thing because I’ve had so little sane time the past couple weeks. I had a call run past 5 pm which made us late for our dinner reservation but luckily it didn’t matter. Dinner was fabulous. The rub on my steak included coffee beans – a subtle addition yet delicious. I foolishly ordered hazelnut chocolate cake for dessert. I say foolishly because the slice that came out was bigger than my head. We took home 3 meals worth of left-overs and I am stretching the cake 4 meals or so.
Friday was another day of crazy work. I feel like I’m going to need Monday to catch up on stuff I was too frantic to address yesterday.
Today is much more relaxed. I woke up earlier than I wanted to and gave up on going back to sleep. I cleaned my desk before lunchtime though I’m still contemplating how I can rearrange things better. I’ve got some throws in the washer – I bought them to turn into curtains… if I can get them to smell like something other than diesel that is. The dishwasher is running, a round of trash has gone out, and I’m getting a handle on the paper recycling in my office. I like visible progress. And I like being able to slow down and take the time to breathe.

I did indeed survive the week. I was unsuccessful in taking Friday afternoon off… there were just too many things that were easier to write up while they were fresh in mind. I’m in New London Monday, so yeah… chaos always seems to ensue when I show up there, so there was no good way to put things off to Monday. Oh well. I still survived the week! We went to see a horrible movie late Friday afternoon… and yes, it’s all my fault. It had funny and cute moments, but mostly was stupid with a dash of scarring for life… There’s your review of Strange Wilderness. Don’t go see it. I am not entirely sure why I wanted to see it… probably because I was worn out and everything else sounded crappy too. The popcorn was really fresh at least.
I have nothing else organized to say today. Which implies that the above was organized. Which it wasn’t, of course. So yeah… time to go do laundry now.
Oh and yes, I’m going to CT tomorrow, I’ll be back home Wednesday night because if I was away for both my birthday and Valentine’s day, the Fop would never let me hear the end of it.

So last night the sunset was really lovely. I opened up one of my windows and hung out over the porch taking photos. Awkward, but I’m really happy with how some of the shots came out. Not every beautiful sunset is spectacular – some are more subtle and blend day to night gently. The roof line belongs to the church across the street.
And that’s about all I have energy for tonight. Tomorrow is Friday! Hurray!
Slammed
Categories: comics, Home & Health, House, Travel, WorkThe hot water heater was replaced without incident yesterday. Well, there was the faint pain of writing a check for said replacement, but the plumber who did the work was nice, chatty and good at his job. And now we can turn off the water to the hot water heater without turning off the water for the entire house! Same for the gas. Exciting, eh? And we have both hot and cold water running through our pipes again!
Work is really busy this week. Fun, chaotic, slammed, amusing, productive, crazy busy.
Today’s comic of the day is from Sinfest. It makes me smile. A lot. So true. (Okay, it makes me giggle a bit too.)
I’m heading to New London, CT again next week. Leaving Sunday again and coming home Wednesday. Yay! I already did my expense report for last week (aren’t I virtuous?) and now I’ll have to do another. Have I mentioned how much I hate forms? No? I will tell you a story about my 1st grade parents’ night sometime… but not now because I’m starving and need to go eat dinner. But Sunday I’m actually arriving much earlier than usual thanks to my usual flight being booked solid… this means hopefully I’ll have time to visit with Andy and his fab family and maybe make it into Mystic while the bookstores are open.
Monster Cat: Please! Don’t eat the roses!
Categories: Cats, comics, Monster CatWhile I was taking photos of my beautiful belated birthday roses this weekend, I had a little help in the pruning department. Tenny LOVES to chew on the leaves and he’s not above munching a petal or too. He’s so very careful about it too. Which would be cute and delicate if he weren’t chewing on MY FLOWERS! *giggle*
