IMG_3393c.jpgBack in July, my dwarf kumquat tree was in bloom! Apparently it’s a happy little tree because this morning I harvested 15 little orange kumquats from its branches. (15 dwarf kumquats don’t amount to much - maybe a heaping tablespoon of unpeeled fruit.) Apparently dwarf kumquats are mostly seed inside. I’m thinking about drying the seeds and planting them in April or May to see what happens. The tree is even happier now because it can stand up straight-ish again. All those little kumquats were weighting it down pretty significantly.

I was excited about the tree blooming in July with its pretty little white blossoms. But the fact that the blossoms actually successfully made the transition to fruit (I should have taken photos of the green kumquats!) and ripened beautifully is just awesome. Perhaps I’m too easily amused. Perhaps I like orange too much. Perhaps I like my camera too much. And perhaps I use the word “perhaps” too much. But what it comes down to is that you’ve got no one to blame but yourself. And perhaps the gnomes that live under my dwarf kumquat tree.
